Celebrate Polish Heritage: WSDPAHS’ 18th Annual Opłatek!

The West Side Detroit Polish American Historical Society (WSDPAHS) warmly invites members, their families, and friends to the Eighteenth Annual Opłatek, a cherished celebration of Polish heritage and traditions. This joyous event takes place on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from Noon to 3:30 PM at the St. Colette Catholic Church Activities Center in Livonia, Michigan.

Honoring Milestones

This year, we celebrate two significant anniversaries:

  • The 150th Anniversary of the Felician Sisters of North America
  • The 100th Anniversary of St. Hedwig Cemetery of Dearborn Heights

Event Highlights

Recognition Awards Ceremony kicks off at Noon, followed by a feature performance by the “Siostry Folklorystyczne” at 12:20 PM.

Enjoy the cherished Polish tradition of sharing Opłatki and a delightful catered dinner by Veronica’s Catering at 12:45 PM, featuring:

  • Gołąbki (stuffed cabbage)
  • Scalloped potatoes
  • Mixed vegetables
  • Tossed salad
  • Bread, butter, and Christmas cookies
  • A variety of desserts, coffee, tea, and water

After dinner, join a Kolędy sing-along with WSDPAHS member Doug Faillace, featuring beloved Polish and English Christmas carols.

The Heritage Room will be open for all attendees to view the mural painted by Dennis Orlowski and explore the society’s archives.
